# Delete your account
> Understand the consequences and permanently delete your Begin account.
Delete your Begin account only when you want to stop using it across every workspace. For one employer, use [Leave a workspace](/for-employees/account/leave-a-workspace) instead.
Account deletion is permanent. You lose access to all your workspaces, cannot sign in with the
deleted account and stop receiving Begin notifications.
## Prepare before deleting
Download any personal data you need from each workspace before continuing. You cannot use the account to retrieve it afterwards.
If you own any workspace, transfer ownership first. The deletion dialog lists the workspaces that block deletion. Being in a different active workspace does not remove this requirement. If an ownership warning appears unexpectedly, ask the workspace administrator or Begin support to help you resolve it.
## Delete the account
Open **Settings → Data and privacy**. On a phone, choose **More → Profile & settings → Personal
profile**, then use the top-left settings navigation button and choose **Data and privacy**.
Select **Delete account**.
Check that you want account-wide deletion, including the requests sent to your employers.
Type your full name exactly as shown in the dialog.
Choose **Delete account**. After deletion succeeds, Begin signs you out and returns you to
sign-in.
## Understand employer-held records
Deleting the account also asks each employer to erase your personal data from their workspace. This is a request to each employer, not a promise that every employment record disappears immediately. Employers may retain records where the law requires it.
An employer can invite you again later, but an invitation does not undo the deleted account. If you only want to stop using a particular device, revoke its session instead.
Account deletion resolves all memberships and checks ownership across workspaces, then detaches memberships, removes account authentication data and files employer erasure requests. The exact-name confirmation is a user-interface safeguard. It is not a deletion of the workspaces themselves, and support must not describe employer-held records as already erased.
