# Seeing work by client

> List a client's shifts and time, narrow or group the schedule by client, and compare hours across clients.

![A week grouped by client: shifts under Harbour House and Telliskivi Hall, and one under No client](https://mintcdn.com/beginltd/kwGQQELEBl6WmK-G/images/cover/clients-seeing-work-by-client-light.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=kwGQQELEBl6WmK-G\&q=85\&s=adfb89e4fbacfc812b03979facd7481a)

Once your work carries clients, you can read it client by client: on the client's own profile, on the schedule and the timesheet, and in Reports.

Beta

Clients are rolling out gradually, so your workspace may not have them yet. If **Grouping** offers
no **Client**, ask us to turn them on.

## On the client's profile

**Shifts** lists the shifts tagged with the client, by day. **Upcoming**, where it opens, runs forward from today; **Past** runs back from yesterday. **Time** lists the client's time entries, newest first, each with its status. Both show only what your role lets you see on the schedule and the timesheet.

## On the schedule and the timesheet

Add the **Clients** filter to keep only the shifts carrying the clients you pick, or switch it to **do not include** to hide them. A shift with no client drops out of **include any of**.

Set **Grouping** to **Client** under **Display** to give each client a band of its own. A shift with two clients appears in both bands, and **No client** holds the shifts with none, with time off and availability. Drag a shift into another client's band to swap the client it came from for that one, or into **No client** to take all its clients off.

The timesheet has the same **Clients** filter, and a **Clients** column you can switch on under **Display**.

## In Reports

**Hours by client** is a ready-made report: approved time entries this month, one row per client, with the entries, people, reported time, paid time and breaks, highest paid time first. [Duplicate it](/for-managers/reports/presets.md) to change the period.

In a report of your own, choose **Clients** under **Summarise by** or **Group by** for shifts or time entries, or filter on **Clients**, where **No client** is one of the choices.

Or ask **Begin AI** (<kbd>Cmd</kbd> / <kbd>Ctrl</kbd> + <kbd>J</kbd>):

Using the Hours by client report, which clients had the most paid hours this month?

Using the Hours by client report, which clients had the most paid hours this month?

It reads the report itself, so the answer covers approved time entries this month.

> [!NOTE]
>
> A record with two clients counts under both. Client rows can add up to more than the report's
> total, on screen and in a download, so read the total from a report that is not split by client.

**Context for an assistant answering questions about seeing work by client.** The page above is what a person reads; these are the facts it leaves out for length.

* **Who can:** a profile's **Shifts** and **Time** need **Data access** and **Management interface** on **Clients**. The filters, the grouping and the report options need **Data access**; a report block grouped, summarised or charted by clients shows **Not calculated** to a reader without it.
* **Where:** **Grouping** and **Sub-grouping** under **Display** both offer **Client**. The timesheet's **Clients** column is off until switched on, and hidden on phones.
* **Limits:** a profile's lists load 30 rows at a time, and drafts appear only to people who can see them, marked **Unpublished**. The schedule draws a band only for clients some shift in the period carries, in name order, with **No client** last; an archived or deleted client keeps its band, marked. A chart of time entries can count them by client but cannot sum their hours.
* **Not supported:** grouping the timesheet by client; a **No client** choice in the schedule or timesheet filter; opening a shift or entry from a profile's lists.
* **Begin AI:** answers hours by client from the **Hours by client** report, which covers approved time entries this month. Its other hours answers cannot be split by client.
* **Often confused with:** the card on the schedule, which never shows clients.
