On an iPhone, Siri can tell you when your next shift starts without opening Begin, and open Begin on a time-off request or your schedule. Every phrase ends with the app’s name: in Begin or in Begin app. Apple requires the name, so “When is my next shift?” on its own does not reach Begin.
Siri works with the Begin app on iPhone, version 1.3.13 or later, while you are signed in. It is
not available on Android or in a browser.
What you can say
Ask for time off by voice
A health day or vacation phrase opens Request time off in My profile → Time off, with the matching leave type already chosen and, for a health day, today’s date. Pick or change the dates, then tap Request time off. Nothing is sent until you tap it, and every rule your workplace sets still applies, including your balance and who approves the request. If none of your leave types is sick leave, the form opens with no leave type chosen. Choose one yourself. When Siri tells you to open the app
Siri answers from the copy of your next two weeks that the app kept the last time you opened it, so a shift further out than that gets You have no upcoming shifts scheduled. If the copy shows no upcoming shift and is more than a day old, Siri does not trust it and says Your schedule may have changed. Open the Begin app to see the latest. Open Begin once and ask again. After you sign out, Siri no longer knows your shifts. Sign back in and open Begin once before you
ask.
