What you get
Duplicate to edit
A preset is meant to stay as Begin shipped it, so the edit action on one reads Duplicate to edit. Choosing it creates your own copy, and you edit that.1
Open the preset
Open the report you want to start from.
2
Choose Duplicate
Use Duplicate in the report menu. Begin confirms with View duplicated.
3
Rename it
Use Rename to give the copy a name your team will recognise — “Payroll — monthly”, not
“Hours by member (copy)”.
4
Change it freely
Adjust the source, columns, grouping and range. Nothing you do here touches the original.
Reset one you changed
If a report has drifted from the one Begin ships, put it back with Reset to default. Begin asks first:Restore “Hours by member” to the report Begin ships with? Your changes to it are lost.
Build a report instead
Presets do not cover payroll month-end, because the columns a payroll manager needs depend on your contracts and overtime policies. Build that one yourself once, share it, and reuse it every month — see Building a report.Reports from Begin 1.0 do not migrate. If you are moving from the earlier product, plan to rebuild
the two or three reports you actually run, rather than all of them.
Sharing a copy
A duplicate starts Private. Open Share to give Can view or Can edit to the people and roles who need it. Sharing the report shares its configuration, not a snapshot — everyone sees current data, scoped to what their own permissions allow them to see.Next
Building a report
Sources, columns, grouping and range.
